FAQ
Réponses pour l’IT, la gestion des licences, la finance et la conformité.
What is CHAOS in one sentence?
CHAOS is a decision system for Microsoft 365 and online services licensing: it infers demand, proposes rule-based, explainable assignments (or executes them) and records rationale and savings potential.
Is CHAOS only reporting?
No. Reporting is a by-product. The core is versioned rules, a decision graph / why-layer, and actionable recommendations with governance approvals—not just charts.
Which Microsoft products are covered?
Focus on Microsoft 365 (E1/E3/E5, F SKUs), Exchange Online, Teams, Entra ID, Defender/Purview add-ons, Project/Visio, and typical CSP/NCE scenarios. Effective SKUs depend on your tenant.
How is CHAOS different from classic SAM tools?
Many SAM tools inventory and visualize. CHAOS connects inventory with policy, decision logic, and evidence packs—and can automate assignments where you allow it.
Does CHAOS need write access?
Read access drives analysis. Write access (e.g., license assignment) is optional and only happens within policies and approvals you configure.
Which data sources does CHAOS use?
Primarily Microsoft Graph and related M365/Entra signals (users, groups, assignments, usage where APIs exist). See the technical brief in Downloads.
Can CHAOS be used in a GDPR-conscious way?
You operate CHAOS as controller; we document purposes, retention, and subprocessors. Your legal/privacy teams remain responsible for the final assessment.
How long does onboarding take?
Read-only onboarding is often a matter of days, depending on approvals and Conditional Access. Broader automation is planned jointly.
Can CHAOS help with true-ups and renewals?
Yes. CHAOS provides consistent positions, SKU paths, and exportable evidence for finance and Microsoft reviews—without shadow spreadsheets.
How does CHAOS handle Copilot licensing?
Copilot has prerequisites and bundle logic. CHAOS checks assignments against your rules and highlights alternatives—without silent upgrades.
What is the why-layer?
It records rule versions, excluded alternatives, and the data basis per decision—so CISO, audit, and partners can explain outcomes.
Does CHAOS support multi-tenant (partners)?
Yes. CHAOS is multi-tenant capable for reseller scenarios with repeatable assessments and scoped views.
How are savings shown?
We use conservative to optimistic bands (often 10–50% of relevant online license spend) depending on baseline and governance—never a guaranteed figure without your tenant context.
Does CHAOS replace Microsoft or legal advice?
No. CHAOS automates technical, rule-based chains. Contract interpretation stays with you and qualified advisors.
What is an evidence pack?
It bundles exportable tables, timestamps, rule versions, and short rationales for billing cycles or internal audits—structured, not loose screenshots.
Which roles benefit?
IT leadership, license managers, CFO/finance control, compliance, internal audit, and external reviewers—with different lenses on the same data.
Can CHAOS correlate with HR systems?
Through defined interfaces/imports, HR events (joiner/leaver and longer employee absences) can feed playbooks without CHAOS becoming an HR system.
Is CHAOS a Microsoft product?
No. CHAOS is an independent platform that works with Microsoft 365 and Entra ID but is not a Microsoft product.
What are playbooks?
Playbooks capture recurring patterns (merger, offboarding, renewal) in clear phases: problem, approach, measurable outcome, organizational learning.
How are rules versioned and tested?
Rules run through expected vs. actual tests; deviations surface before production cutover.
Is there a demo with sample data?
Yes. You can request demo access with preconfigured data to evaluate CHAOS without connecting production.
How does CHAOS align with Zero Trust?
Least-privilege scopes and traceable write paths support Zero Trust programs; see Trust Center and the security overview.
What about Microsoft API throttling?
CHAOS respects Graph throttling, uses backoff, and prefers incremental pulls. Operational limits are documented in the technical brief.
Can CHAOS map Defender or Purview bundles?
Yes, including typical E5 paths vs. point add-ons and when bundles are cheaper—or not.
How are shared mailboxes handled?
CHAOS highlights common mis-licensing patterns and documents remediation options against Microsoft guidance.
Does CHAOS support Windows 365?
Yes, including framing against classic M365 device licensing and Cloud PC economics.
How are Project and Visio licenses optimized?
CHAOS checks bundled vs. standalone online plans and usage signals to catch wrong paths.
What about Teams voice add-ons?
Calling plans, Operator Connect, and Teams add-ons are included in license paths to avoid silent bundle creep.
Can CHAOS feed Power BI?
CSV exports and field definitions can feed existing BI pipelines; a field reference is available for download.
How are product changes documented?
Trust Center aggregates customer-facing changes; technical detail appears in release notes and evidence docs.
How do I reach sales?
Use the demo request or the contact form. For security-sensitive pre-sales we offer a security call.
Which cloud regions are supported?
Regions follow Microsoft and contractual context. CHAOS documents residency and subprocessor notes in Trust Center and downloadable briefs.
Why are there no public list prices?
CSP/NCE, discount ladders, and multi-tenant setups make generic lists misleading. CHAOS is sold modularly to fit your agreement—hence pricing is not highlighted in navigation.

FAQ pages often read generic. Here, typical objections (security, data handling, ROI) should be answered with concrete product facts.
Pourquoi (couche de preuves)
Consistent answers need a shared evidence base. Why links FAQ statements to the Trust Center and integrations—fewer contradictions between marketing and engineering.
